He’ll be done by 2009, tops… unless he actually does an artist album worthy of Trentemoller’s debut effort.

true, so its kind of a wait and see. But he dominated WMC, I presume he is making tons of money and still has a decent roster of studio and live help. As for the personable thing - the dude does wear a mouse suit half the time. Most people who do stuff like that are doing it 1. for recognition 2. to hide themselves.

. I was noodling around at Magnolia as a seasonal when it came in, and our demo room had two copies on hand.

same here, two years ago at Circuit City we had a copy in the surround sound room.

its kind of funny because its like a mad-lib—take out Nettwerk and enter anything you like. Besides what Shane mentioned what about the stuff with Blackwatch, Bill Hamel, the alt-rock-country song based album, the stuff with that turntablist DJ (drawing a blank), and im sure i’m not remembering about 14 others. I believe all of that is/was completed and forgotten. Not exactly good money spent there.

it is interesting. maybe at the end of the day he feels that non of it is good enough to release.  fearing bigger failure then ET.

a thought I had before, and yeah its way out there but....was his studio really robbed? back in the day before he released ET.  maybe the robbery was a cover for lack of good material.  did anyone actually hear the colab he did with Sarah Mclachlan before it disappeared?

yeah but with some of the other things he has released and his need for cash he could have just put them up on music freedom and not even announced it to the public. Just weird is all.

As far as the robbery - that’s crazy talk man, he would have to be so much more twisted than he already is to pull off a stunt like that. That would be like the devil himself.

what happened to bt’s random pseudonyms from the 90’s? haha. maybe those are difficult because of not having ‘bt’ name on them, which might not cause for as immediate of sales? ??. plus, i wonder if bt is pretty much set into ‘album’ mode these days? why not go into random dance releases to really heat up his presence again and then either. make a new album in whatever direction he wants. or make an album with those releases, and then a few extra tracks on there to fill up the total time.  i can see wanting to be a rock star or whatever but he’s in the electronic music industry. singles/vinyls = mojo. he’s not getting any younger : / +maybe he could use a different label for the more floory type releases.  i’m rambling. sorry haha

No im with you… there are a lot of avenues he could take at this point in time. I just see someone who is consumed with their own self-being… he needs to take stock of what he wants, probably needs to get shut of the circus that is his official website and dump all those admiring ego-strokers and lock himself in a room with a nice view and a copy of Logic 8.
Done deal! smile

or. go clubbing. use the mature angle on some hotties. do more clubbing. get shitfaced. totally burry himself in worthlessness, and stab his finger at a kick drum sample at various tempos for 6 hours until it makes him want to go back to doing some fierce editing.

oh, and all the stuff you mentioned too.

be. of. this. earthh.. and open up the coloring book.

I agree with you guys here.

I go to his shows for meeting new faces from the message boards, making new friends, sharing music. and going to other shows. DJ PMS shows are as stale as popcorn and moldy like bread.

@ IMC he thought he was rocking out like a rockstar and saying “Lets go motherfuckers”. I rolled my eyes and thought… what gives you any right to say that, when you have not released a fucking thing in 5 years (dance wise). Fucked over your fans, and showing up late to shows and having your DJ PMS moments because some guy said hi to you before the show. Put on a happy face and do your fucking job and leave.

I just saw Ferry, Tiesto, markus @ The cow palace. Got to meet kaskade and Colette also. It was great time.

A bit random and babbling but i cant stand BT anymore

I heard he played a ‘retrospective’ set i think they called it… old stuff then!
Just like he did when he came over here in 2004 and played at the telecom tower in London… old stuff (from him - other artists had newer stuff on there)… I mean, do we still give kudos to ‘Godspeed’ in the same way we did back in 1998? No… I don’t believe we do. Retrospective.... bunch of arse!

Goddamn this is a good thread. You guys took every thought I have had about BT since mid last year. Espcially you BlueAzure. Seriously, I feel so let down as a fan from all his constant drama and the way he has handled it, and I used to post all the time on garbage ass BTM but after some evil thoughts against certain moderators on there, I found better things to do with my life than worry about “what color underwear our favorite artist is wearing” as you say, seriously. Look at everyone else in the industry, like it or hate it they are moving ahead. Where’s Brian? Hiding from the big bad world? Cmon.

I love how I posted my commentary on BTM about brian’s article on ABC news and IMMEDIATELY it was locked. Ive been a huge fan of bt for about 10 years now, and I can go as far as saying he’s sort of changed my life. I feel so let down as an artist and the way he’s handled his career. Its like how can you be such a genius and lose track as you have?

perhaps we are expecting too much? maybe he does not want to be associated with the scene anymore and just wants to chill by himself. focus on other things? if that’s the case i wouldn’t understand why he’s still doing the laptop symphony thing but maybe we are all hoping for the exact opposite of what He wants to do… then again. if he is hoping to finally get this huge ‘successful’ payoff from some aggressive album release or another i think that it’s counting your chickens before they hatch?? less ego. more truth : )

if you’re reading this. do what you want smile i’ll be happy for you.

Yes and no. Brian and Nettwerk parted ways because they flatly refused to support TBU, and because of the horribly-botched promotion of ET… leading to a period of estrangement for a couple years. After BT sold the shit out of TBU from DTS (a deal he pretty much had to sign his soul over for), Nettwerk reportedly came back willing to reconcile. Last I heard, they were slated to release his new album and do everything they failed to do with ET, such as release multiple singles and actively promote it. That’s what Brian told me nearly a year ago, and so it still remains highly speculative on all fronts. At least until the next album comes out.

does he actually own his music?

Yeah.. if you look at the credits on the album liners it will say something like “licensed by Future music ltd.” or something like that..  It was my take that if it says that his licensing company owns it, not a label.  I don’t have my TBU case handy to see exactly what it says..

"Under Exclusive License” on the exterior of the case is what it says. But I have other reasons to believe he does not own TBU.

There hasn’t been a “new” single or album (excluding TBU) since ET, and that came out 4 years ago.
You know the man is making music.  Something is preventing him from releasing it.  The artist has control over his own destinity, so don’t blame the record labels.

Is there any electronic music out there worth listening to these days?  I’m loosing interest in the genre…
