I question thought, “whaf if American Idol used a BT song?” i know its a stretch, I havent watched the show in a long time. But just for that one segment, would they have the guts to pull it off?

Btw, beatboxing, now i remember Blake. I think i met him along time ago. wait.. how in the. okay thats something i didnt see coming. he did tell me that he wanted to the music world to hear what he’s gotta say. heh now its his chance. man.

This is gonna be some album, maybe a bit of old school BT, with this man’s style. crazy but an exciting ensemble waiting to be made. but pop? i dunno it might go a different route, he’s not really stuck on one path from here on out anyways.

/rant

The music that is spawned from American Idol is a joke.  There is no integrity in it.  It is just something for fat Americans to watch while their country withers away.  I can’t believe anyone who takes “musical integrity” so seriously would work with anything so bland and pop-esque.  If money is the issue, work with Celldweller, NIN, or any other number of other artists who are successful and respected.

Let’s have a look at the word integrity shall we?

integrity
Main Entry: in·teg·ri·ty
Pronunciation: in-’te-gr&-tE
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English integrite, from Middle French & Latin; Middle French integrité, from Latin integritat-, integritas, from integr-, integer entire

1 : firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : INCORRUPTIBILITY
2 : an unimpaired condition : SOUNDNESS
3 : the quality or state of being complete or undivided : COMPLETENESS
synonym see HONESTY

/end rant

Was your rant about music or fat Americans or the State of the Nation.  It must be awsome to be so fit, superior and full of integrity.  I say good for BT, perhaps he can lend his integrity to this new artist’s freshman effort.  Will I buy it? I have no idea but I’ll give it a listen now when I wouldn’t have if BT wasn’t producing.

My rant is about turd polishing.  Why not polish something with more artistic integrity?

Under your own definitions of integrity, this guy could have a layer of sticky pop polish on his soul . . . make a definitive pop album and retain perfect integrity.  I don’t know this guy, I don’t follow AI but I know Jimi Hendrix opened for the Monkey’s and I don’t think less of his genius.  I say lets give the cat and BT a break until we hear whats shakin.  Music history is full of unexpected moments of pure genius.  I’m going to wait and see, you however are free to dis it from the womb because obese north americans recline amidst their deteriorating political compact and watch aspiring singers compete for a shot at a dream.  Whatever floats your boat.

Jimi Hendrix also opened for Little Richard and the Beatles in Germany.  But he didn’t continue to open for the Monkees once he had established himself in the music business.

Now maybe I am being too harsh.  Maybe we all have bills to pay.  And perhaps that’s what this is, a chance to pay the bills.  But I would not endeavor to think that this is going to be some sort of Magnum Opus, and being that such is the case, I will not be holding my breath to see how awesome it’s going to be.  There must be substance beneath the technical wizardry.  The technical wizardry is the icing on top, not the cake.  Imagine your disappointment when you slice into the cake to discover that it is nothing but frosting all the way through.  Leaves a bad taste in your mouth no?

And yeah… I don’t like American Idol.  Just like I don’t like Britney Spears, N’Sync, or NKOTB.  But then again that’s just one man’s opinion.  I’m sure there is a huge majority of people who actually enjoy it and more power to ‘em.

<Dig if you will a picture....>

“Can you pass me the potato chips and beer?  American Idol is about to come on.  I have to have something to talk to my co-workers about tomorrow.  Tell that kid upstairs to turn his music down.  I’m trying to watch TV for crying out loud.”

Utter rubbish… and it’s too bad about the kid upstairs.

But I digress....

How’s this list sound?  Sounds good to me.

Tori Amos
Seal
Madonna
The Roots
Sasha
Adam Freeland
Burufunk
Mike Doughty

I will eat crow if I’m wrong.  About any of it.

Good thread though.  I love me some Casey.  I’ll listen to 3PM any day.

From realityblurred.com:

“American Idol 6 runner-up Blake Lewis has signed with Arista Records, and “[h]is debut album is slated for release later this year,” the AP reports.

Blake recently told Billboard that the album will be “your favorite ’80s mix tape, very inspired by Michael Jackson, Prince, Erasure, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, the Cure. It’s all over the map, really — very influenced by ’80s hip-hop, old school breaks, whatever.”

“They’re letting me down the album I’ve always wanted to make,” he said. Blake has “written 11 of his own songs for the set,” and “he’s recorded eight songs so far, working with producers such as Sam Hollander, Mike Elizondo and J.R. Rotem, with BT working on another track,” Billboard reports.”

First I want to stress that Blake Lewis is effin Awesome. I sorta stopped watching American Idol awhile ago (although we watch it at Berklee College of Music in the TV lounge sometimes) because I don’t watch TV in general -HOWEVER- Blake Lewis is mad pimp. I am super-super-excited for this team-up for multiple reasons, including but not limited to:

1) BLAKE LEWIS IS A HUGE BT FAN, so there’s no reason to be paranoid. c’mon.
2) Brian and Blake have mad beats

-) I see some skeptics, to which I say: judge a record for what it is (of course it isn’t even out yet!). If you’re scared that BT is going to “change his ways” for this record, then you aren’t taking into account the fact that he’s merely producing Blake Lewis’s songs.

He isn’t songwriting, and this isn’t an Artist Album. His masterful songwriting won’t “get worse.” BT is going to progress and change no matter what, which is why he fascinates us.

Positive first, criticism only after-the-fact.

agreed?

If Blake Lewis is a huge BT fan I just got way more interested in this CD. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to help thinking it was a cash-in. Not that I have anything against cash-in’s necessarily, but still.

Blake’s take on Bon Jovi was top notch.  Very tightly done.

And on the RedDirtRomeo/RacerX dialogue up there…

The Monkees were cited by numerous punk bands as an influence due to their railing against their manufactured band beginnings and taking over control of their careers.  Much of their self-penned music stands up to any of the psychedelic/folk rock of the time.

Hurry before the evil demons take it away. Apparently this is BT and Blake doing She Loves The Way live. All audio FX are in real time with BT’s new software.

ding dong download

There was a video but the his evilness probably threatened them with some garble-d-gook.

Personally, it’s nothing more than some jerking off.
