A whole studio to go with it… and they dropped the price to 499! That’s gonna cannibalize the shit out of Cubase and Digital Performer.

I’d been waiting for this day for nearly a year. Off I go to pick up my upgrade…

Yup.  The price drop makes me wonder if they realized just how MANY people would like to own Logic but found $1k a little outside the range of their wallets.  I’m sure that’s not the only reason, but…

LOGIC 8 RELEASE & LOGIC EXPRESS

This release / price cut is enough to make me consider getting a MAC. (I’m a hardcore PC user).  Gonna have to ponder this one, Logic has a lot of tools my Cubase does not.

For those with a Mac and want to have way more power than Garage Band, yet have a limited budget: consider Logic Express for only $199 list price.  Here’s details:

According to Schoeben, there are only four features that separate Logic Pro from Logic Express. They are: surround sound, distributed audio, high-end control surface support and TDM support.

“There is a little bit of a stigma around the term ‘Express,’” said Schoeben. “Despite the naming convention, this is Logic Pro, minus those four features.”
