Oh yes, shit is definitely going to be flying off DA HOOK.

I’ve heard nothing but amazing reviews about it.  If Rotten Tomatoes can give it a 96% percent, I’m definitely giving this a shot despite my doubts.

Shit WAS off the hook. Caught the 11pm last night at the biggest theater in town, and fucking loved it. RDJ was a ballsy casting call, but it paid off in spades… nobody knows the playboy lifestyle and turnaround like he does. Blew away all the Spidermans, and even managed to make Batman Begins appear a little stale. I haven’t had that much fun in a theater in years.

That’s how Dad did it.

That’s how America does it..

and it’s turned out pretty well so far.

There are some painfully serious flaws with this movie but it’s fun enough to make me not care so much about them.

Way to pee in my cornflakes Chuck, now here’s a chance to turn around and shit in them too:

What flaws?

They were minimal at best.

It’s been a bit too long since I’ve seen it to give you the full treatment, so I’ll just say this:

Obadiah Stane suspects Pepper Potts is up to something the moment (if not before!) he finds her in Tony Stark’s office.  The tension in this scene is almost too much to bear as he nearly devours the poor girl with the awful tan.  Why he doesn’t end her then and there is beyond me.

“Is that today’s paper?”

Fucking brilliant.  She has no idea.

More importantly, neither does the audience.  Sadly, that incredibly subtle moment is frittered away.

I just can’t think of a good reason to let Pepper out of that room.  I just can’t.  Perhaps the only explanation could be that the director/producers/writers/someone felt the movie couldn’t go on another second without a mustache twirl...as if we really needed that to convince us he’s evil.  But I think what drives my point home is that after undertaking such a risky maneuver, after nearly getting caught, after running to safety with Agent Coulson, Pepper goes right back!

In my mind that’s the worst offense of the movie.  I’ll be the first to admit that I’m picking-nits.  I have some problems with the credulity of Tony’s captors.  There are some real problems with the dog fight.  Terrence Howard was flat.  Villains should never ride Segways!!!!!!!

But like I said before, the movie is able to rise above all that.  All the credit for that goes to the writers who put together a surprisingly fresh and witty script, Robert Downey Jr. for acting the shit out of it, and the director, Jon Favreau, for putting together a solid (though at times flawed) action flick.  I liked this movie but I didn’t like it enough to suck it’s cock.

And I can’t fucking wait to see Samuel L. Jackson get eaten by a shark in the next one.

I GOT ATE BY A SHARK!

Saw this last night and I was amused, but not all that impressed.  I mean, Favreau’s directing WAS great for keeping the CGI from stealing the spotlight, AND RDJ was the perfect choice for the role, but it seemed like simply yet another moneymaker superhero movie that we’ll all forget about the second it’s off of pay-per-view.

If you guys want an impressively fun movie, see Speed Racer at an IMAX and have the time of your life.  John Goodman is a freaking awesome Pops.  I saw it again for the 4th time last night as well, and it was the 2nd time seeing it at an IMAX.

I think you meant the new Hulk movie. Seriously, does anyone want to see that?

Me. It’s going to be infinitely better than the first one. C’mon… it’s Edward Norton. Nobody plays the dual personalities better than he does.

I liked it too, only because Jennifer Connelly is in it.
