Comcast vs. BitTorrent to be focus of FCC hearing

Interesting, sure. Conclusive, no. The problem Comcast has is that they’re filtering specific types of bandwidth traffic, regardless of the actual content (and using false injection packets to do it—a big no-no). While BitTorrent technology is vastly used for illegal downloads, many services (notably Joost, Vuze and BitTorrent.com) are leveraging the technology for legitimate purposes. Comcast has no tangible way to discern the difference between legal and illegal content, but that really isn’t their job. And the most ironic part of it all… as soon as you enable SSL and make slight modifications to your settings, the problem all goes away. Comcast is fighting a losing battle, both technologically and politically.
