In the spirit of reconciliation…

Hi everyone. I have had a drunken revelation - and as a result I present you all with this thread. The thread of love and peace. The kind of love that you can only feel after several Jacky D’s.

The idea is this: Take some conventional wisdom and turn it on its head. For example, conventional wisdom on the bt-network forum is that Peach over at BTM is over-controlling, over censoring and doesn’t take criticism. So I present the alternative.

Here goes…

1) Why Peach is great:

If it wasn’t for her hard work over on musicfreedom.com I would never have had the chance to download and listen to BT’s original mix of Flesh - you know tha version that we were never going to hear. In fact, this site still states that “The original version is unavailable.” So props to Peach. You go girl!

For the record it’s 4am

Only happy thoughts allowed on this thread because I say so!

Flesh was given to the people at the ET listening party event and made available on BT-Network by Shane and others… so in actuallity Peach had nothing to do with it, except charge you for what was a free download on this site to begin with.

And many of those tracks are actually being sold without authorization. I doubt Universal would be pleased to see The Fast and the Furious up for download, seeing as they own it and Brian doesn’t.

But that’s okay. Peach gave us the cafepress store, where you can buy a host of other second-rate trash, including more unauthorized goods like MP3 versions of the two sample CDs. Not WAV, Giga or AKAI mind you… just what they were able to find on the public bittorrent trackers.

Thanks Peach!

Peach is great cause she gave Fuzz a purpose, a noble cause to pursue.

also she’s an advocate of child safety, while riding in motor vehicles.

So is there then possibly someone who has a copy of Flesh without the serious audio glitch that can be heard on the version available at MusicFreedom.

From bostonbtfan’s comment in the unreleased tracks thread:

“The audio glitch was my laptop flaking out”

So the version with the glitch is pretty much what everyone else has. There won’t be a re-upload

I remember being told post-party that the glitch was in the master recording and that was the ebst we were gonna get. Maybe we were lied to and BBTF is just sittin there chortling away.

You know I think I was aware that the angle of my post was a little bit controversial. I think the alcohol had affected that part of my brain that says “stop. don’t do that. That is a naive and mildly stupid thing to post”.

But interestingly, (well for me anyway), I was never aware of Flesh ever being downloadable on the network - and I’ve hung around the background here for the last 7 years.

But alright then… a new angle

maybe BT put the glitch in there to fuck with people’s heads.  someone should time shift and spectro-analyze it.

Perhaps I’m missing your irony/sarcasm.  But I’ve always thought it sounded like Brian and Rose McGowan chatting each other up.  That would probably be about right.  I mean… come to my studio, sing on my track, get pants shittingly drunk and fuck me until I can’t walk.  And all in good fun… we’ll throw some flirting in on the track.

Of course.... I could be completely wrong.  I wonder if Manson ever let her sing on any of his tracks?

The original had the glitch.  It went on the CD Brian burned for us at Fight Club.  Boston ripped it to his laptop and tried to minimize it as much as possible without changing the good data.  He then transcoded it (MP3, VBR) and sent it out to all those who attended Fight Club and were interested (which was pretty much all of us who attended).  From there it made its way out to the GP, and was eventually posted for download.  Did Peach really charge people for that?  Wow!

For the record, since I’m sure some of you think I was the one responsible for that, I wasn’t tongue

I did a quick and dirty fix in Sound Forge pretty soon after that… just copied and faded the last half of that “cadence” from another part of the song, made sure the transition hit on time, etc. Sounded smooth enough to me. I thought I posted it to fight club, can’t remember.

I love how raw, indulgent, exploratory that track is. No commercial gloss, no radio potential, just fun and colorful.

I cool-edited that glitch right out of there too.

I find that the repeating “world music” loop at the start of the track highly irritating, but I hold the rest of the track in the highest regard, especially the downtempo lyrical section. Jan Johnston tracks - I either love em or hate em (cough, communicate), but this one is definitely in the ‘love em’ category.

Never noticed it was posted for download at the bt-network. Must have been vacationing or something, used to login daily otherwise. And I never asked anyone for any unreleased BT tracks on the board or outside of it. Is it allowed here now after all this drama? That all said, Flesh is an epic track in the spirit of IMA - I also love Beta even though some of you would claim and say it sounds dated now, I’ve never cared for that point of view when talking about any music.

think of “Fight Club” as a subnet of BT-Network to which only selected few had access.  smile

why the existence of Fight Club was publicized is beyond me…

Gave me a purpose, that’s funny. I believe it’s the other way around. She’d still be pimping 12 year olds on an NSYNC board as a moderator instead of 18 year olds on BT’s official site and promoting child seat safety if it weren’t for me. Or maybe still robbing gas stations on her birthdays.

Again, people get your facts straight.
