You know.... I wanted to share this with everyone:

Back in 2003 we went to this thing called “Fight Club” and by we I mean a good amount of people on this board currently and in the past.  Some didnt get to go, and that sucks… I was without words when I was invited to this party in California.  I remember I got a call from Shane saying something along the lines of… “Dude you better not say a fucking word or I sware to god what I am going to tell you I will take away” and bla bla secret this secret that.. well I flew out for a 3 day weekend where I had the coolest roomates… Caesar and Danny (DPP) We all went out for drinks the night before “BT’s” and had a fantastic time… I met so many of you amazing people at this bar.. some of you I had never really talked to before on the board, and some It was awesome to finally put a face with the text you know?

I got the title: Uncle Alchy from this pre-game partying.. we were out all night and drinking like crazy people.. I had far to many pretty drinks with Dei and Glynis and then we moved on to shots, that was fun… after that bar the boys wanted to go to Hooters where I got my first GUINESS drink, and I about threw up in my mouth.. and we were all quite shocked when we found out they didnt have any hard liquor, only beer. (I hate beer) so after a while… we left and went to a gas station (i think, very drunk at this point) to get some more alcohol and took it back to the Double Tree Santa Monica, which is where we were all staying at.  Anyways, we partyed in someones room… at this point I am beyond 3 sheets to the wind… so after seeing a few people shotgun beers and get way way way way way too drunk I went back to my room to call it a night/morning… After a rough night of me + the toilet I woke up by the gang knocking on the door and trying to get me to come out like at around noon… I wasnt having it… WAY WAY WAY hung over… and then finally came out of the hotel around 3 or 4 to get some food… I felt like shit alllllllll afternoon, my one regret was I wish i hadnt drank so much for what was gonna happen later that night.

We all take a van or taxi van or something to Brian’s house in Santa Monica… We pull up and the first thing I think is “fuck me sally. I am at my Idols house” and we walk in to his beautiful home… and there he is sitting at his mac playing with some tracks, and Shane drags me over to the workstation and says “Dude this is Casey… 3pm...” he is like “Dude thank you so much for coming out!” and at that point, I felt as if I was in another dimension, I didn’t really know what to say, I just said thank you and kind of drifted to the back to take in what I was in the middle of.  We danced, we drank (i stuck to water all night) and ate OMG ROLLS (which i didnt partake in but everyone else did) and listened to the mid stages of Emotional Technology… and then Brian brought out some old school DAT tapes and played us some rare rare rare shit… and it was like “this is like having jesus tell you and show you how he/she made life” if that of course is how it went down.. but whatever you understand.

My point to this post… Regardless of what has happened recently with all the drama and this and that and the other thing.... We had a community of friends, love, respect and passion for the man that created some of the most amazing music we had ever heard.  I have nothing but respect for Brian and I have nothing but respect for his musical decisions, whatever they may be… it is his decision to do whatever it is he wants.

Yes… I am “Still Trippin’” and I probabaly will continue to trip from that one night for the rest of my life.

BT 4 Life ya’ll.

And just for the nastalgia… NEW SCHOOOOOOL BREAKKKKKK BEAAATS WAHHHHHHHW AHWAHAWHAHWH !

Mad Love.

-3 p m

p.s. The first time I heard BT’s music was on a CD Compilation.... Dream Music or something like that which had Robert Miles Children on one disc and then Flaming June on the other and as soon as I heard Flaming June my brain stopped.  I had to hear everything this man had done.  And so begun my obsession… Ima led to ESCM led to MISL led to ET led to TBU led to whatever he does next.

fight club - excellent movie, though the ending was pretty twisted.

I would just like to state that I indeed slept at BT’s house..... Ok fine more like passed out from exhaustion on his chair for like an hour… BUT I WAS UNCONCIOUS!

That was indeed a very happy bizzare time for me.

Co-workers - “What you up to this weekend, Ed?”
Me - “Flying to LA to go to some party at a producer friend of mine’s house. He did a few movies you might have heard of, or his CD’s.. Good stuff.”
Co-workers - “No really, what you up to?”

I had just had my first child and was of course gushing to Brian and everyone about it. Few years later he got to experience that as well and actually Kaia and my daughter are very close in age. Drama aside, it’s fun to talk to him about the experiences of being a father and all the new stuff kids do - again - drama aside. If nothing else he absolutely is a loving father.

Since then a ton has changed, I’ve moved on in a lot of ways and I suddenly feel rather old typing this. However I do look back fondly upon those very odd few days and can say I don’t regret participating at all, and I appreciate the acquaintances I made in such a short time.

I don’t know why I’m replying really, maybe because it was Casey bringing it up and I wanted to acknowledge the sentiment.

Or maybe it’s because I still chuckle to this day when I think about sitting on Santa Monica beach for the first time with Jason Dunne and crew - seagulls flying over head with the sun going down and he turns to me and with a calm prose like a buddist monk, asks, “Dude, did a bird just shit on my back?”

Good times.

Sigh - The only constant is change.

Yeah, that would be me face-down on Boston’s wet bar.  Then we went to The Blueberry Cafe in Santa Monica for breakfast.  I had a buffalo chicken sandwich… For breakfast… Yeah, I know.

Edit- Shane on my shotgunning technique of biting a giant hole in the side of the beer can instead of tapping out a small hole with a key… “Holy shit, Dude!  You ate the can!”

Holy hell MD, how did your legs fit in on the wet bar behind Arthur the Bud Light Man? Doesn’t look like there’s enough room. A true contortionist when beer-infused?
