Rumors are wildly spreading that Ashley Duffy and Kaia Nui Transeau were located and Ashley arrested in Los Angeles today. It is said that Kaia is safe and Ashley’s Mother is being interrogated, however I have spoken with a Los Angeles Sheriff and as of 5:40pm PST there is no detainment, arrest or inmate record of an Ashley Duffy in the Los Angeles County’s Police Department Database. It is possible the information is not accessible or entered into the database yet, however as of right now there is no record. Rumors are also spreading that Kaia is currently under the supervision of Child Protective Services.

UPDATE 5:53P PST - 1/15/08

Brian has confirmed with me that “Ashley is in jail” and that “Kaia is in my arms” in Los Angeles, CA. No word on the charges against Ashley or the length of her detainment.

UPDATE 3:33P PST - 1/16/08

Hearing that all charges against Ashley Duffy have been dropped by a Judge in Maryland. - CONFIRMED

UPDATE 12:35P PST - 1/17/08

Charges against Ashley have been dismissed following a conversation between judges in MD and CA. A hearing will occur within the next week. I am hearing from very reliable source(s) that the MD state attorney is pursuing extradition of Ashley to MD, prosecuting her for the criminal charges against her, but Brian is requesting that all charges be dropped. Brian does not wish for Ashley to be prosecuted at this time. I do not know if or how the MD state attorney can or will handle the situation.

Details of custody, visitation and all the other legal matters will be heard, handled and decided through the court system.

I can confirm this. I have just gotten off the phone with both attornies in MD and LA.  and Ashley is currently in custody and Karen is currently being investigated by Federal Marshalls for her part.

Kaia was in custody of CPS only for a short time which is standard procedure. They also had to provide a carseat for her to ride in Brian’s car.

Whether or not you can find anything online might take several hours if at all.  Call the attorney on record, she can and will verify for you.

Regardless of any beefs, pending thorough investigation by the authorities this is a very good development. Running and hiding from the courts and police was foolhardy, dangerous and utterly selfish. I look forward to seeing this properly sorted out and I’m happy to hear that Kaia is safe.

It is easy to use this bit of news to think, “oh good, Kaia is safe.” But do we know that she wasn’t safe before today?  If anything, this has to be very hard on Kaia.  Hanging with mom, dad’s not around, mom probably not saying good things about dad, cops show up, here’s dad, and he is probably now telling me about mommy being in jail… The fate of a child shouldn’t be made in a court decision.

Not sure how filing motions in your defense is running from the courts.  Being detained by the police doesn’t say anything about criminal offenses.  It goes one of two ways, California calls Maryland/Federal government tomorrow and they say we are going to press charges, or, they say, her attorneys filed motions on her behalf two days ago.  As long as Brian T. has possession of his daughter they are complying with the courts.  The legal question is how long is to long to respond to the courts.  Didn’t we use to have some lawyers on here..

Hopefully she has been sleeping well, will sleep well tonight, has been happy, and will continue to be happy.  At some point as an adult you realize that everybody makes mistakes, including your parents.  Hopefully this doesn’t make things to difficult until she realizes that.

I’m still very confused by all of these recent events, but glad that Kaia is well.

I have been contacted by people to let me know that Karen is not and was not ever being “interrogated by federal marshals”, and that things should start to get sorted out by tommorow.

We shall see.

Musician’s Lil’ Girl Found—Mom Now at Lynwood

The three-year-old daughter of electronic musician Brian Transeau—who performs under the name BT—was found last night after a month-long search, TMZ has learned.

A team of U.S. Marshals, two private investigation teams and the Santa Monica P.D. had been searching for Kaia since December, finally locating her last night. Her mother, Ashley Duffy, was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Lynwood Jail (Paris’ old stomping grounds) without bail.

According to authorities, Duffy absconded with Kaia from Transeau’s Maryland hotel room—Duffy was there for a visit but instead took the kid. A warrant for Duffy’s arrest was issued two weeks ago for “out-of-state child abduction from the lawful custodian” as well as “out-of-state child detention from the lawful custodian.”

Transeau has scored a bunch of Hollywood hits, including “Monster” and “The Fast and the Furious.”
